On 30 July 2023, at approximately 17:30 local time, an accident of Cessna F172N aircraft occurred near Sinj Airport (LDSS). Due to a loss of engine power, the aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing near the runway.
At the time of the accident, two people were on board – the pilot and an instructor. Both sustained injuries and received medical assistance.
The aircraft suffered significant damage. The cause of the accident was an engine failure, resulting in the loss of power and the inability to climb or maintain altitude.
The Air, Maritime and Railway Traffic Accident Investigation Agency received information about the accident immediately after it occurred from the employees of Split-Dalmatia Police Department, the Civil Protection Operational Centre, and Aeroklub Split.
Agency investigators arrived at the accident site to conduct an on-site inspection and initiated an investigation of the incident.
Upon completion of the investigation, the Air, Maritime and Railway Traffic Accident Investigation Agency prepared and published this Final Report.
Based on the findings and conclusions arising from this investigation, AIA issued the following safety recommendations to the operator of the subject aircraft Aeroklub Split:

The aircraft operator, when creating the Aircraft Maintenance Program (AMP), should ensure that the
AMP does not deviate from the maintenance instructions provided by the manufacturer in any
segment. Additionally, the operator should monitor service instructions and bulletins issued by the
manufacturer over time and ensure that the AMP is always updated and in compliance with the newly
issued manufacturer instructions.
The aircraft operator should align their remaining AMPs with this recommendation.
