The Air, Maritime and Railway Accident Investigation Agency was informed about the serious incident immediately after the event by the Lučko Airport operator, following which an investigation was launched.
The investigation determined that the accident occurred due to damage to the airport’s perimeter fence, which allowed wildlife to move onto operational surfaces.
The Agency issued two safety recommendations to the airport operator – Aeroklub Zagreb.

Based on the investigation of this accident and with the aim of improving safety, the Air, Maritime and Railway Accident Investigation Agency issues the following safety recommendations to the Lučko Airport operator:
✓ AIN04-SR-01/2023
To enhance the safety of flight operations at the civil section of Lučko Airport, the operator – Aeroklub Zagreb – should continuously monitor the condition of the fence around the civil section of Lučko Airport for which it is responsible. This should be achieved through periodic and sufficiently frequent inspections of the fence, as well as the documentation of existing and newly occurring damages.
✓ AIN04-SR-02/2023
To enhance the safety of flight operations at the civil section of Lučko Airport, the operator – Aeroklub Zagreb – should repair any damage to the fence around the civil section of Lučko Airport in a satisfactory manner, ensuring that wild animals are prevented from entering the operational areas of the civil section of Lučko Airport.
