On March 09, 2026 at 10:40 pm, a material train while driving on the section of the line between Kistanje and Benkovac stations collided at km 054+400 with a rapid sleeper replacement working machine. The material train consisted of 18 loaded wagons, two magnet wagons, one shield wagon and locomotive number 92 78 2062112-0. The rapid sleeper replacement working machine type SMD 80 remained on the line at km 054+400, according to the planned work plan. No one was injured in the accident, while significant material damage was caused to the SMD 80 rapid sleeper replacement working machine.
Given the circumstances that led to the accident, a decision was made to initiate a safety investigation, in accordance with Article 127, paragraphs 2 2. and 3 a) of the Railway Safety and Interoperability Act (Official Gazette, No. 63/20).
