On September 4, 2021, at approximately 10:34 UTC, during the landing of an Airbus A320 NEO at Split Airport, the lower fuselage in the tail section made contact with the runway (commonly referred to as a tailstrike), resulting in material damage. There were no injuries to passengers or crew members.
The investigation determined that this serious incident occurred due to a combination of aircraft handling during the final phase of landing and significant changes in wind direction and intensity.
The Air, Maritime and Railway Traffic Accident Investigation Agency did not issue a safety recommendation in this safety investigation.
